The software a server runs is very important, all our servers run on  Redhat Linux which is an open source UNIX based operating system. It is considered the most reliable operating system for a server to run due to its high reliability, security and efficient use of system resources like memory and CPU power. It has many benefits over Windows systems which are resource hungry, unreliable and suffer from more security problems compared to Linux. Although our systems are UNIX based no knowledge of it is necessary as it is the same as using a Windows based server.

Another part of the software are the automated systems which run things like mail, web server, name server and other systems. For this we have developed our own system and not used an off the shelf product which allows us to make our system unique and design in our own special features. 	Apache - This is the web server program run on all of our servers,. Apache has been the most popular web server on the Internet since April of 1996. The February 2005 Netcraft Web Server Survey found that more than 68% of the web sites on the Internet are using Apache, thus making it more widely used than all other web servers combined.
	Sendmail - As the name suggests Sendmail is used on our servers to deal with the sending of mail. Sendmail provides Mailstream security solutions provide total protection from denial of service attacks, viruses, spam and phishing while ensuring all outbound email is safe and compliant - all from a single comprehensive platform. Used by majority of mail servers around the world due its good features, security and performance.
	ProFTPD - Chosen for its efficient coding which gives it the performance needed by us and the many great features, ProFTPD was an easy choice over wu-ftpd used by many other hosts.
	MySQL - MySQL is used in a wide range of database applications, including Web databases, e-commerce applications, data warehousing, logging applications and distributed applications. MySQL is also increasingly embedded in third-party software and other technologies.
	PHP - PHP is a widely-used general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for Web development and can be easily embedded into HTML.
	FrontPage 2002 - the Office Web site creation and management solution that helps you create exactly the site you want.
	Perl – Perl is a widely-used general-purpose stable, cross platform programming language and is popular in CGI.
